Why does CAPIBARA exist?
The Collaboration for the Analysis of Photonic and Ionic Bursts and Radiation (CAPIBARA) was established in July 2024 with a clear mandate:
- To explore the high-energy cosmos
- To do so with multi-messenger analysis
- To be fully led by students
CAPIBARA’s development was accelerated through participation in the Spark programme by PLD Space. This opportunity enabled the collaboration to gain contact and exchange with industry experts and to taylor our concrete mission concept and capabilities.
Through technical review, research work, and feasibility assessment, the collaboration now continues to pursue its goals with two separated projects: the first focusing on a cosmic ray detector, and the second proposing a -ray transient observing CubeSat.
Since it’s inception the collaboration has made progress in its objectives, however there is still so much way to go.
Structure

GitHub Repository Naming
The CAPIBARA Collaboration organisation (github.com/capibara3) is sub-divided into the CAPIBARA-CRD and CAPIBARA-GAMMA teams. Each team has it’s own discussions, repositories, and projects which are named following “crd-name” or “gamma-name”. There are some collaboration-wide repositories (.github and .github-private) and some discussions as well for collaboration administration.
