I'm Adel Alba El Farhi, a 17-year-old student and young researcher with an enduring passion for biodiversity, ecology, and the life sciences. From a very early age, I’ve been captivated by how life works, which has led me to dive deeply into fields like genetics, bioinformatics, evolutionary biology, and ecology.
Driven by curiosity and a strong sense of purpose, I’ve participated in research programs such as Youth and Science from Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, and completed a scientific internship at CEAB-CSIC, where I’m currently co-developing two research articles on freshwater ecology and plastic pollution. I also had the opportunity to co-author an article with a renowned German scientist—an ongoing collaboration that continues to expand my scientific experience.
Photography is another way I connect with nature. I practice wildlife photography as a way to document and appreciate the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
Beyond research, I actively contribute to conservation and environmental education through multiple volunteering initiatives. I’m currently involved with the CREAC (Centre de Recerca i Educació Ambiental de Calafell), the Catalan Herpetological Society, the SOCC (Monitoring of Common Birds in Catalonia) organized by the Catalan Ornithological Institute (ICO), and the Science Ambassadors program at Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera.
I see research not just as a career path, but as a mission to contribute to a more sustainable and informed future. I approach science with enthusiasm, rigor, and an open mind—always ready to ask questions, seek new perspectives, and keep learning.
